About Me

Mercedes Bohaty is an aspiring filmmaker and editor.

Bohaty has worked on commercials, short films, documentaries, and skits. Aurora Productions was her first internship in 2008. Mercedes learned techniques and edict during hands on experience as a PA and working closely with all members of the company.

Her first documentary film, The Journey of a Japanese Otaku (2010), profiles her younger sister’s unique lifestyle. The film introduces and informs the viewer about a world not many people know about. It shows an understanding of the isolation our society has pushed upon the main character. Mercedes’ latest narrative film, The Evidence Tape (2011), demonstrates a different approach to suspense through the first person point of view of a stalker’s camcorder.

Bohaty, recieved a BA in Media and Communications from SUNY College at Old Westbury in Decemeber 2011. She also has been awarded two Media Arts Celebration Awards from the College as well.  Journey of a Japanese Otaku won Best Documentary of 2010 and The Evidence Tape won Best Narrative of 2011.  Mercedes plans to go onto work with independent production companies and filmmakers as an editor while continuing to write, direct, shoot and edit short films.
